A parolee was arrested Saturday morning when an apparent burglary attempt was thwarted by neighbors.
Nikolas Hodges, 22, is being held without bail on a charge of burglary and a parole hold.
Taft Police received a report of a person kicking in a door to an apartment at the Creekside Apartments on Finley Drive Saturday at 9:22 a.m.
They responded quickly and caught Hodges fleeing to the east side of the apartment, Chief of Police Ed Whiting said.
Neighbors who had heard the attempted break-in and confronted the suspect, identified the man detained by officers as the same one they saw attempting the break-in.
Hodges was booked into Taft Jail and transferred to the Kern County Sheriff's central receiving facility on Monday.
