Officers believe they may be lined to more crimes
Taft Police arrested two men this weekend on burglary charges and think they may have caught the people responsible for at least some of the recent commercial and residential burglaries in the Taft area.
Officers arrested Bryan Henry Landreth when they responded noises at an auto body shop and arrested the second man, Corey Joe Huckins, hours later.
Both men are charged with burglary and conspiracy.
“It looks like these are our burglars,” Chief of Police Ed Whiting said
Landreth, 22, also faces other charges, including theft of auto parts and resisting or obstructing arrest.
Landreth was caught in the storage yard at Devon's Auto Body just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Whiting said.
Huckins, 21, was arrested Sunday in the 200 block of North Lincoln Street.
Whiting said officers believe the pair attempted to break into Messenger Automotive at 531 Center Street and also at 10 Percent Firearms on the 1200 block of Kern Street but fled after an alarm sounded.
“It looks as if they have been doing a lot of burglaries,” Whiting said. “We are following up to see if they have been doing others around town.”
