1919 – 2012

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Franklin Field Complex Pavilion #1 on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Eva Willhelm, 93.  A potluck reception will  immediately follow the celebration.  Mrs. Willhelm was born in Pontococ, Mississippi on August 26, 1919 and passed away in Bakersfield on October 1, 2012.  Mrs. Willhelm was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Among her most favorite things were her flowers and gardening.  Mrs. Willhelm was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Willhem; her grandson, Robert Willhelm; and by all of her siblings.  Her survivors include her children, June Willhelm of Taft, Mike Willhelm of Maricopa, Don Willhelm and his wife, Lisa of Taft, and Renn Riddick of Taft; her grandchildren, Danny Schroeder of Taft, April LaPeer of Bakersfield, Erik Riddick of Bakersfield, Brittney Odle of Taft, and Bryce Willhelm of Taft; her eight great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Peggy Smith and her husband, James of Taft; her brother-in-law, George Willhelm and his wife, Ann of Michigan; her numerous nieces and nephews; and by her sisters and brothers in Christ.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lydia and Ann with Hoffmann Hospice.  In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in Mrs. Willhelm's name to the American Cancer Society, 1523 California Ave., Bakersfield, CA  93304.  The arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.  To convey condolences or sign an online registry, please visit www.EricksonAndBrown.com
