Deputies arrest two men on weapons charges
- One had a Taser, the other a revolver
Two convicted criminals, one on parole, the other on felony probation, were arrested on weapons charges in South Taft on Monday.
Mario Alarcon, 42, and David Tyler, 32, were both taken into custody and officers recovered a small-caliber revolver and a Taser stun gun, Sgt. Martin Downs said.
Deputies were sent to the 300 block of Naylor Avenue just after 6 p.m. on a report of two men acting suspiciously.
Alarcon and Tyler matched the descriptions of the suspects. Alarcon was outside a pickup and Tyler was sitting inside.
When the first deputy arrived, Tyler exited the truck and walked away, Downs said.
A search of the truck led to the discovery of the Taser and the revolver.
Both men were also charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Tyler was arrested on a parole hold as well, and Alarcon was charged with violating his probation, Downs said.
Alarcon was charged also charged with being a narcotics offender in possession of a stun gun and Tyler was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
