  • "Miracle on Center Street" is the theme selected for the 2012 Taft Christmas Parade.
Taft District Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau's Executive Director Kathy Orrin announced the theme for this year's Christmas Parade and said it was fitting.
"We already have experienced miracles on Center Street this year, with the opening of several new businesses in a time where economics were uncertain at best," Orrin said. "This theme is a testimony to the positive energy expected for this upcoming holiday season."
The downtown business committee, with the blessing of the Chamber board of directors, selected the the theme,
The parade is scheduled for Monday Dec. 3, 2012, beginning at 6 p.m. on Center Street.
Applications for entries into the parade are available at the Chamber, or you can call 765-2165 and an application/entry form will be emailed or mailed to you or your organization.
This year The Chamber is asking a $10 donation with each entry fee.
The money collected in donations for the parade will be put into the Fourth of July Fireworks Show fund.
The parade will stage on Main Street, as it did last year under the direction of the Taft Lions and the Midway Sunset Lions Clubs.
Taft Rotary will be in charge outfitting the Vanguard Division—the dignitaries who are a necessary part of every Christmas parade.
The Soroptimists will judge the parade entries, and the Kiwanis Club will provide the award certificates and plaques.
"We cannot present a Christmas parade without the cooperation and help of our local service clubs. They have been so generous in their time and monetary support of the parade," stated Orrin.
