  • A large crowd is expected to be on hand on Saturday afternoon for the dedication of the Taft College Gym as the Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center.
Baldock's wife Joyce and daughter Erin will be at the ceremony where the new sign will be unveiled honoring the legendary coach who led the Cougar football program to unprecedented success in his two decades in Taft.
There will be only a limited amount of seating available and people planning to attend should bring their own chairs.
The city will be closing Emmons Park Drive between Sixth Street and Wildcat Way from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., so people driving to the ceremony should come down Wildcat Way and park either in the parking lot between the Gym and church or in the larger campus parking lot to the west.
