With only three matches remaining in the regular season, the Taft varsity volleyball team reached a big mark Thursday by defeating the Robert F. Kennedy Thunderbirds in three sets to win their 20th match of the season.
With the victory, Taft improves to 20-7 overall and 6-3 in the South Sequoia League. The last time, a Taft varsity volleyball team won 20 matches in the season was 2009 when they won 26 matches.
The first set was close until Taft went on a 9-3 run to go up by 10. Taft would go on a 6-1 run to close out the set.
In the second set, Taft broke a 10-10 tie with a 15-1 run to win the set. Taft closed out the match in the third set by defeating the Lady Thunderbirds 25-8.
