The time came on October 19, 2012 for Ann Johnson-Jackson to leave her earthly home and go to her eternal reward. Ann was born on April 9, 1927 at the family home located on her grandmother's farm in Union County, Kentucky. She was the second of nine children born to Frank Johnson, Sr. and Catherine Wheatly Johnson. Ann attended St. Peter's Parochial School, was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy and Draughn's Business College in Paducah, Kentucky. While in college, Ann met Harold Jackson, a young soldier who had recently returned from the European Theater of War, following WW II. On July 18, 1946, Harold and Ann were married at Sacred Heart Church in Hickman, Kentucky. In July, 1952, Harold and Ann moved to Taft, California. Harold went to work for Signal Oil and Gas Co. Ann went to work for Anglo California National Bank located on 5th and North Streets in Taft. Ann's last place of employment was the West Side District Hospital. She also performed volunteer work with West Side Hospital until it closed in 2003. Ann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for over 60 years. She also served as President of St. Mary's Altar Society and Secretary of Young Ladies Institute, Ave Maria Institute #103. Ann was a Girl Scout leader, a member of Taft Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Midway Sunset Quilters. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold Jackson; her son, Richard Jackson; her son-in-law, Gary Carroll; and granddaughter, Kristy Ann Walters. Ann is survived by her three children and their spouses, Randy and Mary Jackson, Jean Ann and Harry Martin and Sue Carroll; special friends, Bud Petrey, Virgie Cook and Donna Mac; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ann would like everyone to know that she is "fine." The Recitation of the Rosary and Vigil Service will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. David Greskowiak on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taft.
