Highway reopened at 10:45 a.m. after collision in Cuyama Valley
Highway 166 is open again after being closed by a fatal accident for nearly 3 hours Saturday morning.
Few details are available, but, according to the California Highway Patrol's website, a heavy duty pickup and sedan collided head-on on Highway 166 near Kirschenmann Road in the Cuyama Valley at 8 a.m.
That location is just east of where the highway crosses the Cuyama River near the townsite of Cuyama
One person, a male, was airlifted from the scene to Kern Medical Center.
The roadway was reopened to traffic at 10:45 a.m.
