The Taft man shot during an attempted burglary in rural Maricopa last summer has been found guilty of attempted robbery and burglary charges after a trial in Kern County Superior Court.
Travis Studer, 37, will be sentenced on Dec. 10.
Studer was convicted of the two felony charges and found not guilty on an assault with a deadly weapon charge on Nov. 7 following 12 days of testimony and deliberation.
Studer was hospitalized for several days after he was shot when a he attacked a 64-year old man who caught him burglarizing his garage on Stubblefield Road on July 12.
The man, Roberto Ruiz, called for help and another family member arrived with a gun and shot Studer,
Studer spent several days undergoing surgery and recovering at Kern Medical Center before he was arrested.
Studer is being held without bail pending his sentencing.
