Roberta Hess, 96, of New Cuyama, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2012 in Santa Maria's Marian Extended Care after breaking her hip on July 3, 2012. Mrs. Hess became an LVN in her early 50s and worked at Taft's West Side Hospital well into her 70s. Her time there spent in nursing was her ministry and her joy. Roberta was born in Downey, California on June 7, 1916 and had lived in New Cuyama since 1951, being one of that town's first residents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ells; sons, Kenny and Eugene; daughter, Gloria; son-in-law, Willie Low; grandson, David Low; her two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Low-Schot and her husband, Louie of New Cuyama; grandchildren and their spouses, Don and Amy Low of Seattle, WA, Darryl and Dalynne Low of Pinon Hills; Karen Ingle and her husband, Dennis of Redwood Falls, MN; great-grandchildren, Deidre, Connor and Lucy of Seattle, WA, Ryan and Dakota of Pinon Hills, Jeffrey Low-Ingle and his wife, Louren of Wheaton, IL, and Timothy, Deborah, Ben and Christy Ingle of MN. Visitation for Mrs. Hess will be on Friday, November 16, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home. A funeral Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at New Cuyama Community United Methodist Church. A potluck luncheon will follow.
