You can drop gifts off at New Hope Temple
A local church is helping collect supplies to send to poor children around the world.
It's part of Samaritan's Purse Operation Christ Child and Kim Miller is gathering supplies at the new Hope Temple, 308 Harrison St.
She will be at the church Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 9a.m. To 11 a.m. Monday.
The gifts don't have to be very fancy and shouldn't be very big, Miller said.
Just use a shoe box, which you can wrap in gift paper if you like, and fill with things like pens, pencils, crayons, paper coloring books or small toys and clothing items.
The gifts will be taken Monday to bakersfield where they will be on there way to be handed out to the very poor around the world, especially victims of natural disasters.
Please do not send candy, food or war toys, Miller said
Miller said the gift go to children who have very little.
"A lot of these gifts go to who have never even had a birthday present from their parents," she said.
Along with the gifts a small tracts that tell about Jesus Christ and the opportunity to attend a 12-week course in Christianity and receive a Bible.
"It's a wonderful way to spread the Gospel," Miller said.
