  • John L Young, 63, died Friday, November 30th, 2012 in his home with loving family by his side.
    He leaves his wife of 20 years Judy Young; his son, Tony Young daughter in law Suzanne of San Diego, CA; his daughter, Melissa Young of Taft, CA; Step-Daughters, Chris Martinez, Karen Tadd Rodriguez, Colleen Tadd of Santa Maria, CA; his brother, Mike Young and Sister, Debbie Barnes of Taft, CA. 11 grandchildren, 1 Great grandchild, several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and close friends.
    John, the proud son of Lucky and Laura Young was born in Coalinga, Ca. and raised a few miles away in Avenal CA before moving to Taft CA, at the beginning of his senior year in high school.  John Graduated in 1967 from Taft Union High School and joined the United States Air Force, John proudly served his country for 8 years earning the rank of Staff Sargent. After serving in the USAF, John worked for Chevron USA and Treat-o-Lite. John also attended Taft College where earned his AA degree in Business. John finished his working career in the Auto Retail Business where he excelled and earned several awards for his outstanding business and work ethic.
    John had a passion for Golf. He played almost daily before his illness and you could often find him playing golf with friends and sometimes marshaling at Black Lake Golf Club before becoming a member of the Santa Maria County Club.  John played in many charity golf tournaments but absolutely loved playing in the annual “Par Chasers Classic” where he was able to spend time with several life long friends.
    John loved spending time with his family where many incredible memories were made. From fishing with His daughter Melissa, playing golf with son Tony and brother Mike, Thanksgiving meals and family reunions, sport games for grandchildren, country club dates and nightly talks with his wife Judy. John loved being with his family and he will be greatly missed!
