The Taft varsity girls soccer team wrapped up their non-league schedule Friday and Saturday by coming in third in the Silver Division of the Garces Holiday Soccer Festival at the State Farm Sports Village.
Taft opened their run with a 6-1 victory over Rosamond. Bethany Fitzsimmons led the charge with a hat trick (three) goals.
The Lady Wildcats had a tougher challenge Saturday morning with a 2-1 loss to Coast Union. Coast Union scored a goal in the first half and one in the second. Taft scored a goal to cut the lead in half but they couldn't catch up.
Taft rebounded Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Fresno Christian. Like the first match, Fitzsimmons had a hat trick in scoring all three goals.
