  • Skyelines: Why me?
  • This is me when I can
This is me when I can't watch the Giants in the playoffs.

For the past six years, I was a happy Directv subscriber. I had all the channels I wanted. I watched True Blood on HBO, Grey's Anatomy on ABC and the San Francisco Giants nearly every day on CSN Bay Area.
In October, I was horrified to realize I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO WATCH THE GIANTS IN THE PLAYOFFS because they'd be airing on Fox instead of CSN. And Directv was in a feud with Northwest Broadcasting, which carries Fox KMVU Medford.
Unacceptable, I thought. I called Directv. I whined. I cried. I yelled. I scared my children. I asked for an alternate channel. I submitted waivers.
    I still couldn't get KMVU.
So, I did what I had to. I switched to DISH.
Since October, I've been learning to use my Hopper and Joeys. I don't love them, but you know what? I saw my team play an amazing series of playoff games in which they almost were eliminated time after time. Then I saw them kick the Tigers' butts.
    I was happy.
Until last month, when I realized that Northwest is now in a dispute with DISH.
No more 49er games for us. No NFL playoffs whatsoever, actually.
