Suspect accused of taking guns, jewelry
A Oildale man is in jail after he was arrested by Kern County Sheriff's deputies when returned a second time to a Dustin Acres home that had been burglarized.
Deputies think Mike Milam, 20, was involved in a burglary at the home on the 27000 block of Tank farm road that was reported on Dec. 30.
They were called to the scene by the victim who told them someone had entered the home and stolen numerous items, including firearms, jewelry and household items, Sgt. Martin Downs said.
They conducted an investigation and interviewed witnesses, who told them a white four-door sedan was seen at the house.
On Jan. 1, deputies were called back to the same house about 3:45 p.m. to a report of a burglary in progress and when they arrived they saw a white sedan at he scene.
The deputies spoke to a man later identified as Milam, who told them his car had broken down in the area, but Downs said they also saw items taken from the first burglary in the vehicle.
He was detained ad taken to the Taft substation for questioning.
The deputies later searched Milam's Oildale home and discovered more items reported stolen from the Dustin acres home, Downs said.
Milam was then was arrested.
Milam is being held on $60,000 bail and charged with burglary and theft of a firearm.
He was arraigned this week and is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 15 for a pretrial hearing.
