Funeral services will be held in the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. for Taft native, Joe H. Davis, 89. Mr. Davis was born in Taft on February 8, 1925 and passed away in Bakersfield on January 16, 2013. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II, assigned to the 118th Anti-Aircraft Artillery. Mr. Davis had been employed in the oilfields by various companies in and out of the country. He was a life member of the V.F.W., Post 10859. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his parents, Henry and Virgie Davis; his brothers, Roy and Robert Davis and his sister, Betty Blanco. His survivors include his son and his wife, Steve Davis and Loys; his daughters and their husbands, Linda Kemp and Howard and Jennifer Barnhill and Bill; his sisters, Ruth Masters and Wanda Russell and her husband, Max; his grandchildren and spouses, Glenn Davis and Robin, April Champion and Patrick, Michelle Kemp and Jake and Caitlynn Barnhill; his great grandchildren, Marissa, Cara and Kenny Champion; and by numerous nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Joe.
