After slow start Taft turns up the heat in home victory
It has been a long couple of weeks for the Taft varsity girls basketball team. They found something to smile about again Friday evening following a 48-17 victory over the Robert F. Kennedy Thunderbirds at home.
Taft's offense had a rough time getting out of the gate. After scoring 1:03 seconds into the game, the Lady Wildcats did not score another point until the 4:16 mark of the quarter. They would not score another field goal until the 2:56 mark before sinking two free throws with three seconds left.
Meanwhile, the only points the Lady Thunderbirds were able to score during that period of time came with 3:09 remaining.
Taft found their stride in the second quarter scoring 15 points with four coming from Kennedy Kunce and five coming from Caitlyn Emberson. Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy was held to two layups.
The Lady Wildcats carried their run into the fourth quarter with 13 points while the Lady Thunderbirds picked up the pace with seven. Taft matched their total in the fourth quarter while Robert F. Kennedy was limited to four points.
