Thieves have been busy again on the Westside and the Kern County Sheriff's rural Crimes Investigations unit has been just as buy investigating the thefts.
From Maricopa Flats to McKittrick, thieves have stolen a trailer, electrical components, “horse head” from a pumping unit and copper wire.
Here's a rundown from the RCIU:
•Unknown suspects stole 400 fee of 4/0 bare copper wire and 600 feet of 500 MCM THHN wire from a secure storage yard located near Highway 33 and E Street in McKittrick.

•The following property was stolen from an oil lease located in the 28700 block of Hovey Hills Road: 100 feet of 1/0 & 4/0 electrical wire, an oil well “horse head”, two 50 amp electrical breakers and two electrical starters, size 2.
The “horse head” was recovered a short time later. A white Dodge van and a dark green Chevrolet pickup were seen in the area at the time of the theft. If you have any information regarding this investigation please Brunsell. Refer to case #SR13-00830.
Three PLC’s and three starters were vandalized causing a production loss of $21,000. Contact Brunsell if you have any information regarding this vandalism. Refer to case #SR13-00840.
•A brown/green 25-foot fruit picking trailer was stolen from a business located in the 14800 block of Highway 166.
The trailer is described as being double axel, with two green portable toilets on the sides, with the backup and signal lights being arched, like eyebrows.
