Saturday's signups run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Right now basketball and soccer are the dominate story. Yet in a month the scene will shift to the spring sports.

The West Side Little League is getting the ball rolling with a series of signups that begin later this week and run into February.

The first signup for players, coaches and volunteers will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 26. Another signup will take place the following Monday from 6-8 p.m.

A couple of days later, the WSLL will hold a signup on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. On Thursday, Feb.7, the WSLL will offer another signup chance from 6-8 p.m.

All of the signups will take place at the Chevron Valley Credit Union Conference room. The cost to take part. Kids between the ages of 4-13 years old (April 30th is the cutoff date to determine age) can take part.

The cost to take part is $50 per player and $40 for each additional sibling that lives in the same household. Parents or guardians need to bring three forms of identification like Driver’s license, vehicle registration and vehicle insurance. A PG&E, cell phone or cable bill will also work.

Financial assistance will be available for those that qualify and no kid will be turned away for not being able to afford to play.

If you cannot make it out to one of these signup dates, the West Side Little League is also offering on line signups. Parents or guardians will still have to fill out or turn in the medical release form and bring three forms of identification. They can signup their kid through the website and pay through Paypal. Online signups have already begun.

After the series of signups in early February come to an end the scene will shift to the George Blanco Little League Fields where tryouts and player registration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 8 a.m.

Another tryout and player registration will be held on Tuesday, Feb.26 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be addition to this year’s season with the 50/70 division for 12-13 year olds. A 12 year old can play the Majors, 50-70 division or both. To play both will cost $90.

 If a 12 year old is signed up for both and is only drafted to the Majors, the West Side Little League will refund the extra $40 the 50/70 division would cost. Thirteen year olds can only play the 50/70 division.
