The Taft varsity girls basketball team ended their stretch of home games on a sour note following a 41-37 loss to the Wasco Tigers Wednesday night.
Wasco scored the first basket of the game but Taft answered with the next nine. The Lady Tigers woke their offense up in the final 1:58 of the quarter with a three free throws.
The Lady Tigers fed off that mini comeback in the second quarter by scoring 15 points while Taft was held to four. Despite the point difference, the Lady Wildcats hung with Wasco until late in the quarter when the Lady Tigers went on a 7-0 run thanks in part to a three-pointer to lead 20-13 at the halftime break.
Taft caught fire in the the first minute of the third quarter with Kennedy Kunce scoring four of the six points. The Lady Wildcats followed up with two free throws to cut the advantage to one at 20-19.
After Wasco extended the lead to six, the Lady Wildcats bounced back to take a 27-25 lead. However, the Lady Wildcats were held to two points the rest of the quarter. In the meantime, Wasco took over the lead at 30-29.
Like the fourth quarter, Taft came alive by taking over the lead at 36-30 58 seconds into the fourth. Taft was held to one point the rest of the way while the Lady Tigers came back to win by four.
