Website was was going to be redesigned soon anyway

If you can't find what you're looking for on the City of Taft website, that's because the old one has been taken offline and a simple status page has replaced it.

Human Resources Director Lonn Boyer said the city was in the process of updating its website ( anyway, but now there have been security breaches.

Someone has broken into the website twice in the past 1-1/2 months and posted advertisements for payday loans on it, Boyer said Wednesday.

So the city decided the best thing to do was just to take the old one down and put up a temporary status page until the new, improved website is ready.

The City Council approved spending up to $8,820 at its Dec. 19 meeting to pay Municipal CMS to design a new website and then $1,500 per year to host and maintain it.
