The Bakersfield Condors professional hockey team will honor Taft Union High School during its home game this Saturday in Rabobank Arena and generate some cash for the campus.
The community night "for the people, families and businesses of Taft" is being coordinated by Taft High alum Andrew Boydston, who is the account manager for the Condors.
"This is to assist in student wellness and activities for Taft Union High School Associated Student Body (ASB) led by Eric Newton," he said. "We will also be honoring Kim Fields, Ryan Heber and Mary Miller with the Spirit of Condorstown award for their courage displayed at Taft Union High School."
Heber is the science teacher who, along with campus supervisors Fields and Miller, helped disarm a student who brought a shotgun to campus and critically wounded a classmate.
Boydston said Saturday's home game against the Colorado Eagles serves as a fund-raiser for Taft High.
The event is being coordinated with Newton, the ASB adviser at Taft High.
To order tickets by phone, call Boydston at 661-324-7825 (ext. 211).
On-line orders can be placed at:
$15 for Executive (lower level) with $4 going to support Taft High track and field.
$10 for Terrace (upper level) with $2 going to support Taft High track and field.
Ticket sales carry additional incentives.
For every 100 tickets sold for Saturday's game, the Condors will donate $100; 150 tickets sold: $200; 200 tickets sold: $300; 300 tickets sold: $500; 400 tickets sold: $700; and 500 tickets sold: $1,000.
