It wasn't the way the Taft varsity girls basketball team wanted to start the second half of their league season after falling 57-35 to the Arvin Bears Monday night in Arvin.
With the loss, Taft falls to 15-6 overall and 3-4 in the South Sequoia League.
The scoring was close in the first and fourth quarters with the Lady Bears outdueling Taft 11-7 and 16-15 respectively. However, Arvin pulled away in the second and third quarters when Taft's offense was held to nine and four points respectively. During the same period of time, Arvin scored 18 and 12.
Kennedy Kunce led Taft in scoring with 12.
Taft returns to action Wednesday when they host Cesar Chavez. The game begins at 6:45 p.m.
