TC trailed by 9 at one point

Schalon Baysinger scored on a layup to break a tie with 23 seconds left and Ramonique Redding sank two clutch free throws to Saturday to give Taft College a 62-58 Central Conference basketball victory over Porterville.
TC overcame a halftime deficit to take an 8-point lead before the visiting Pirates went on a 9-0 run to regain the lead at 56-55. The team traded baskets before Bezait Anbesse tied it at 58 with a free throw with 50 seconds left.
Redding stole the ball and dished it off to Baysinger who scored her only points of the game.
TC had three players in double figures: Zanoria Echols (15), Redding (14) and Erica Evans (11).
Taft (4-3 CVC, 9-14 overall) hosts Merced Wednesday at 5 p.m.
