Taft will face No.6 Cougars Thursday at 7 p.m.

Less than twenty four hours after pulling out a dramatic playoff victory at home, the No.3 seeded Taft varsity girls basketball team will look to do it again when they host the No.6 seed McFarland Cougars Thursday night in the quarterfinal round of the CIF-CS Division IV playoffs.

McFarland got to the quarterfinal round by defeating No.11 Bakersfield Christian 55-32 Tuesday. Meanwhile Taft held on to defeat No.13 Strathmore 34-32.

Both teams are coming in with a bit of a winning streak.

Taft has won three out of their last four games while McFarland (14-12 overall) has won nine out of their 10 league games to win the East Sierra League title.

Winning streaks are not the only thing the teams have in common.

Taft and and McFarland have also had several common opponents in Arvin, Shafter, Wasco and Sierra Pacific. The Lady Cougars lost to Wasco, Shafter and Arvin while both defeated Sierra Pacific.

The winner of the game, will face the winner of the No.7 Riverdale- No.2 Mendota or No.15 Orange Cove game in the semi final round.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
