Dog ran out in front of motorcycle rider, witnesses say.

A motorcyclist was injured Saturday morning when he collided with a dog at Tenth and Kern Street.

Witnesses said the man was in the northbound lanes of Tenth on the south side of Kern when the animal ran into the roadway.

"The dog just ran out in the street. By the time him and the dog met he couldn't stop," a witness said.

The dog ran away from the scene after the collision.

The victim was apparently wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
The motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries, and was treated at the scene by Kern County firefighters and Hall Ambulance paramedics before being transported to Kern Medical Center.

The accident took place at about 9:30 a.m.
