Residents in the City of Gridley will see a decrease in solid waste charges following a Public Hearing held February 19, 2013 during the regular council meeting.
Waste Management's amended and restated agreement with the City shows a significant reduction in the residential solid waste rates and starts March 1. Currently, residents with a 35 gallon toter pay $22.33 per month but with the new amended agreement this amount drops to $18.86, a 15.54 percent decrease.
Waste Management and the City of Gridley entered into a contract in January of 2001 which is now amended until 2015 after discussions in April and August of last year, finalized following the November 19, 2012 council meeting.
With the new agreement, 96 gallon green waste carts will be emptied once every other week. Additional waste carts can be provided if a customer calls in a request.
Three additional green waste carts can be provided to city residents during the heavy leaf season (beginning October 1 of each year and ending November 30) with no additional cost to the customer.
