It seemed like old times when the Taft and Tehachapi boys golf teams met on a spring like day at Buena Vista Golf Course.
This time around it was a non-league contest with the Warriors defeating the Wildcats 477-465 Thursday afternoon.
“We played a little better yesterday than we have in the past,” said Taft coach Mike Goodwin. “Our guys are getting back into the swing of things.”
Harrison Sorensen and Nick Pommerville each shot the lowest total for Taft with a 94. Toby Taylor was one stroke back while Tanner Leikam and Brandon McCostlin each shot a 97. Eli Kindred rounded out the scoring with a 113.
“The boys will continue to improve weekly and hopefully by leagues end we are playing our best golf,” said Goodwin.
Following another tuneup Monday, the Wildcats will open the South Sequoia mini league tournament schedule Thursday when they travel to Delano Municipal Golf Course. The match begins at noon.
