Suspect detained after police pursuit

Taft Police detained a possible suspect at the end of a pursuit in the Ford City area involving both Taft Police and Kern County Sheriff's deputies.

Few details are available.

The chase started just before 12:30 p.m. and ended when a blue Ford Aerostar minivan was abandoned in the west alley of the 100 block of Pierce.

Police and deputies set up a perimeter around the block and started searching.

A man dressed in a black leather jacket and black hat was detained by officers in a yard at Pierce and Ash streets.
