When the season is young the focus is to get better. In a sense that is what the Taft boys golf team is doing after falling 465-451 to the Independence Falcons Monday afternoon at Buena Vista Golf Course.
“We are improving weekly and these guys are starting to settle play better,” said Taft coach Mike Goodwin.
Toby Taylor had the lowest score for the Wildcats with an 83. Harrison Sorensen followed with a 93 while Nick Pommerville and Tanner Leikem each were one stroke back with a 94. Eli Kindred chipped in with a 101 while Casey House had a 104.
Taft kicked off their South Sequoia League mini tournament schedule Thursday when they traveled to Delano.
The Wildcats return to action Monday when they travel to Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield to compete in the Stockdale Invitational. The match begins at 10 a.m.
