Four Lompoc residents were arrested and charged with stealing tangerines from a citrus grove east of Maricopa saturday.
Kern County Sheriff's Sgt. Martin Downs said deputies responding to a report from a security guard of suspects stealing the citrus fruit in a grove in the area of Highway 166 and Basic School Road.
They made a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle as it fled the scene and found the four suspects, all members of the same family, along with about 40 lbs. of the tangerines and two tote bags commonly used by citrus fruit pickers, Downs said.
Arrested were Angela De La Cruz, 26, Teresa De La Cruz, 44, Ester De La Cruz, 19, and Augustine De La Cruz, 19.
All were charged with grand theft of produce.
