The driver was critically injured and his two passengers escaped with minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 119 just north of East Kern Street Sunday evening.
The driver was ejected from the car after it struck a large tree on the west side of the highway about 7:30 p.m.
The names of the drivers and two passengers were not released.
Both passengers declined medical transport.
The driver was taken to Taft Airport and transferred to a helicopter that took him toer KMC.
His name, the the names of his passengers, was not immediately available
Witnesses said the car was northbound on Highway near East Kern when is slid out of control and crashed.
The driver was not breathing when passers-by arrived, and two, Chaney Burris and Curtis Ashmore, started CPR on the driver.
They said the driver's heart started, then stopped. A Kern County Sheriff's deputy arrived and help revive him a second time.
They were at the Veterans Memorial park when the crash happened.
The said they heard the cars tires, then turned around just in time to see the car go sideways in the roadway.
It left the road and they then saw a large cloud of dust, Ashmore said.
Taft Police said the accident is alcohol related.
Several beer bottles were laying in and around the car and there was a strong oder of alcohol near the car.
