Spring break is here kids have a week without school with nothing to do.
The West Side Recreation and Park District hopes to alleviate that quiet time with a series of activities.
Events started Saturday and continue all this week
Monday, the WSRPD will hold a barbecue lunch and movie for those between the kindergarten and sixth grade.
Hot dogs and chips will be served and the Rise of the Guardians will be shown. The event costs $3 per person and will go from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m.
The following Tuesday, the WSRPD will host a couple of events starting with the sidewalk chalk art at 10 a.m.
All young artists and creative minds are invited to come leave their mark on the sidewalk. The event will take place from 10-11 a.m. at the Community Center parking lot. The event is open to those three and up.
Tuesday afternoon, the WSRPD will hold Candy Bar Bingo at the Community Center Assembly Room. It is free to take part and is open to those between the first and eighth grade. The event will run from 2-3 p.m.
On Wednesday, the WSRPD will offer Kids Fun Day. Kids between kindergarten and the sixth grade will be able to hang out and play games, do arts and crafts, watch a movie, have pizza, lunch snacks and more.
The cost is $8 per person and will run from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Community Center Assembly Room. The registration deadline is Tuesday, March 26. The activity minimum is 10.
A day later, the WSRPD will hold tie dye t-shirts from 1-2:30 p.m. The activity is open to those between the second and eighth grade. Bring a new washed 100 percent cotton t-shirt and you will be able to tie dye it in some cool colors. Kids are encouraged to wear old clothes to work in. The cost is $5 per person and will be held in the Community Center Activity building. The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 27.
The WSRPD will wrap up the spring break activities Friday with board games and lunch. The activity is open to those between the first and eighth grades. It is free and will last from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring a sack lunch along for our lunch break.
