Little league starts the schedule with regular season games

For the most part, the sports scene has been quiet the past week thanks to spring break. That will all change over the next couple of weeks with a series of games and events.

The West Side Little League will kick off the action Monday when they officially start their season at the George Blanco Little League Fields.

This coming Saturday, little league will hold their opening ceremony starting at noon at the George Blanco Fields.

In between those days, the Taft junior varsity, varsity baseball along with the softball teams resume their league schedule when they head up to Delano to face the Cesar Chavez Titans. The games begin at 4 p.m.

The two teams will face each other again the following Friday when Taft hosts Cesar Chavez. The games begin at 4 p.m.

Tennis returns to action Friday when they take on Robert F. Kennedy.

The varsity team will be at home while the junior varsity team travels up to Delano. The golf  and track teams return to action Thursday with the track and field team hosting a meet.

Golf follows up with a meet against South Monday at 1p.m.

A week after Little League hosts their opening ceremony, it will be the West Side Recreation and Park District’s turn when they hold the Ponytail opening ceremony.
