The Taft varsity baseball team celebrated their return to league play Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Cesar Chavez in Delano.
Neither side got their offense going until the top of the fourth inning when Austin Pendergrass started the rally with a out single to left field. Pendergrass advanced to second on a bunt single but a pair of line drives to the Titan infielders ended the rally.
Two innings later Taft came alive by scoring four runs on three straight hits, a hit batter and a fielder's choice.
Cesar Chavez got two of the runs back in the bottom of the sixth.
However, the Wildcats struck again in the seventh when Danny Romo started the rally when he was hit by a pitch. Taft would go on to score three runs to win by five.
Steven Gee threw a complete game six hitter allowing two walks and striking out 12.
