The Taft junior varsity baseball team returned to league play Tuesday afternoon as if they had never left following a 22-3 victory over the Cesar Chavez Titans in Delano.
With the victory, Taft improves to 13-4 overall and 3-0 in the South Sequoia League.
Taft’s offense started off quietly with three runs in the top of the first inning.
The Wildcats opened the floodgates in the second inning with nine runs.
After adding on four in the third, Taft put the final touches to their run with six in the fourth inning.
Meanwhile, the Titans scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Noah Parsons led the charge by going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Colt Niblett was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Matt Osborn was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, four runs batted in and a double.
Jordan Lopez, Christian Palacios, Will Moore and Alex Guzman each were 1-for-2.
Lopez and Guzman each scored three runs while Moore and Palacios each scored two runs. Tevin Howell and Jeremy Wilmer each were 1-for-1 with a run scored. Wilmer also had a run batted in.
Oscar Nuno and Cain Roberts were 1-for-4. Roberts scored three runs and had a run batted in while Nuno scored two runs and two runs batted in.
Osborn threw all four innings, allowing three runs and four walks while striking out 10 batters. The game was called after the fourth inning.
Taft and Cesar Chavez squarer off again Friday when they host the Titans. The game begins at 4 p.m.
