After a brief time off one might think that the Taft junior varsity softball team might be a little rusty.
The Lady Wildcats put any concern to rest Tuesday afternoon when they defeated the Cesar Chavez Titans 29-1 in Delano.
Josey Burke led the Lady Wildcat offense by going 4-for-4 with four singles, four runs batted in, four runs scored and a walk. Katie Evans was 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, two runs batted in and two walks. Kyndal Harmer was 2-for-4 with two singles, a run batted in, three runs scored and two walks.
Cheyenne Rogers was also 2-for-4 with a single, home run, five runs batted in and two runs scored. Vanessa Uribe and Sierra Holmes each were 3-for-4 Uribe had two singles and a double along with three runs batted in and three runs scored. Meanwhile, Holmes had three singles and two runs scored.
Bethany Fitzsimmons was 2-for-3 with a single, triple and two runs batted in. Brinley Rosenberger was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Bailey Vega was 2-for-5 with a single, double, two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Krysten Davis was 1-for-1 with a run batted in and a run scored.
Fitzsimmons, Harmer, Evans and Uribe each had two stolen bases while Burke and Davis each had one.
Davis tossed five innings allowing one run (earned) while striking out eight.
Taft returns to action Friday when they host Cesar Chavez. The game begins at 4 p.m.
