Just a short period of time from now, former Taft High baseball player Matt Davis, will wrap up his collegiate career. In the meantime, Davis’ play for the Saint Edwards baseball team paid off this week when he was named Heartland Conference player of the week.
According to the St. Edwards website, Davis threw three straight days, allowing no runs and no walks over a six inning stretch while striking out two batters.
Over the course of the season, Davis is 3-1 with three saves and a 2.38 earned run average.
Davis part of Saint Edward’s team that is 22-10 overall and 16-8 in the Heartland Conference. Saint Edward’s is a Division II school in Austin, Texas.
