Time off could pose a problem for any team especially when a season is nearly half over. The Taft boys golf team showed no signs of rust Thursday afternoon when they finished second in the South Sequoia League mini tournament at Sycamore Canyon Golf Course.
“The guys played great yesterday at Sycamore Canyon Golf Course in Arvin,” said Taft coach Mike Goodwin.
Overall, Bakersfield Christian won the tournament with a score of 404. Taft was second with a round of 435 while Arvin was third with a score of 504.
Harrison Sorensen shot the lowest round of the day for the Wildcats with an 82. Toby Taylor followed two strokes back with an 84 while Nick Pommerville had an 87. Casey House was one stroke back with an 88 while Tanner Leikam shot a 94. Eli Kindred rounded out the scoring with a 98.
Bakersfield Christian leads in the standing with 48 points. Taft follows in second with 40 while Shafter is third with 32.
Taft along with the other South Sequoia League teams return to Delano Municipal Golf Course Thursday for their next mini tournament. The tournament begins at 1 p.m.
