Sometimes a close game could be a good thing. That was the situation the Taft varsity softball team found themselves in for most of their game Friday afternoon before they pulled away to defeat the Cesar Chavez Titans 10-3 in Taft.
With the victory, Taft is 4-0 in league play.
Cesar Chavez struck first with a home run to lead off the first inning.
Taft countered in their half of the first with Halle Neher's single and Haylee Tracy's two run home run. After a quiet period, the Lady Titans offense came alive in the third highlighted by a pair of singles to take their last lead of the game at 3-2.
Led by Caitlyn Emberson's double the Lady Wildcats bounced back in the bottom of the third inning with three runs. Taft added another run in the fifth before the Lady Wildcat offense exploded with four runs in the sixth highlighted by Tracy's second home run.
