I know what you’re thinking... No, I don’t have a teenage son that works at Disneyland posing as Tinkerbell’s male friend at Pixie’s Hollow.
“Terance,” who is, indeed, stylishly wearing an acorn on his head, is in no way related to my daughter, though I know the resemblance is disturbing.
Can you tell that Violet was confused as to why she was taking a photo with the only boy fairy at Pixie’s Hollow when her friend, Aya, was posing with Tinkerbell herself?
Did she perhaps sense the creepy twinlike vibe captured in this photograph?
This is one of my favorite pictures from our 2010 trip to Disneyland, during which I posed as Supermom, singlehandedly escorting three children on an airplane to Los Angeles and through the wilds of Disneyland... while five months pregnant.
Crazy? Yes. But So. Much. Fun.
Okay... I had a bit of help. We were picked up at LAX by my friend, Ayumi, her husband, Brent, and their girls, Aya and Amara. We stayed at their house the first night and they drove us to Disneyland the next day.
Because I couldn’t go on the fun rides myself (it was impossible to hide my pregnant stomach from the ride operators at that point), Brent took the boys on Splash Mountain and the Matterhorn while Ayumi and I went on It’s a Small World and visited Tinkerbell and Terance with the girls.
The kids and I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel that night, and the next day we hit the park solo. We spun on teacups. We rode on Nemo’s submarine and Pirates of the Caribbean. We went on the Haunted Mansion ride FOUR TIMES. We ate cotton candy and drank soda and watched fireworks and purchased expensive hats.
The boys even stood in line for – no joke – an hour and 45 minutes so Violet could meet Snow White and the other princesses.
All the usual annoying things about my three oldest children were put on hold in the magical world of Disneyland. Not once did they get in a fight over who touched whose elbow, whose french fry is longest, or which one of them smells like hotdogs.
Amazingly, they were on perfect behavior the entire time. It reminded me of why I wanted to give birth to these tiny humans in the first place.
Ayumi was kind enough to pick us up from the Disneyland Hotel the following morning. She took us back to LAX to fly home.
The entire trip was magical, and I’m trying to save up enough cash to go again. I should have that accomplished in about 3.5 years. ;)
