The Taft junior varsity baseball team continued their run through league play Tuesday with a 15-2 victory over the Shafter Generals at home.
With the victory, Taft improves to 15-4 overall and 5-0 in the South Sequoia League.
Taft did most of their damage in the last half of the first inning when they erupted for 10 runs. The Wildcats followed with a run in the third before scoring two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.
Meanwhile, Shafter scored both of their runs in the second inning.
Matt Osborn led the charge by going 4-for-4 with a run scored, a double and three runs batted in. Noah Parsons was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a run batted in. Alex Guzman and Andrew Wade each were 1-for-3 with both scoring a run. Guzman had two runs batted in while Wade had one run batted in.
Jordan Lopez, Tevin Howell, Colt Niblett and Oscar Nuno each were 1-for-2 with a run scored.
James Odle, Anthony Martin and Jeremy Wilmer each were 1-for-1 with Wilmer and Odle scoring a run. Will Moore scored twice.
Guzman tossed the first four innings of the game for the Wildcats, allowing two earned runs, a hit, five walks while striking out seven batters. Parsons threw three innings striking out six batters.
Taft will look to sweep the Generals when they take on Shafter in Shafter. The game begins at 4 p.m.
