It is the latest in a string of fires on Montview

A house that was nearly destroyed by fire two months ago was burned again late Friday night.

It is the latest in a string of suspicious fires that have burned several homes a garage and a doublewide mobile home.

The last fire is, like the others, under investigation by Kern County Fire Department arson investigators.

An abandoned house at 406 Montview was already on a list of homes targeted for demolition by Fourth District Supervisor David Couch and now the demolition is going to be a little easier.

Much of the roof and interior was were left after the first fire on Feb. 12, but Friday's fire burned just about everything, leaving only the wall studs still standing along with a partial carport roof.

Friday's blaze was the third on the 400 block of Montview and the fifth overall.

An occupied home on the 200 block of General Petroleum Avenue was heavily damaged and a mobile home on the 400 block of Montview were the only occupied homes.

Before Friday's fire, the most recent was on March 7 on the 300 block of Montview.
