Arizona Pilgrim tossed her second no-hitter in a week Tuesday as the Taft High softball team disposed of another South Sequoia League opponent. This time the victim was Wasco as the Wildcats won 10-0
With the victory, Taft improves to 16-6 overall and 7-0 in the South Sequoia League. Wasco drops to 4-1 in the SSL
Taft had a chance to score in their first at bat when Halle Neher led off with a double followed by a fielder's choice. However, the next two batters were retired to end the threat.
The Lady Wildcats had another chance to score again in the third inning by loading the bases but they came away empty handed.
Arizona Pilgrim helped Taft break through in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two runners on, Pilgrim hit the first pitch she saw over the left field fence for a home run. Taft tacked on two more runs in the inning to lead 5-0.
Taft opened the floodgates in the fifth inning by scoring five additional runs capped by Neher's two run single. The game was called following that hit due to the 10- run rule.
While Taft's offense came alive, Pilgrim blanked the Lady Tigers. The only Wasco player to reach base during the game came on an infield error in the top of the fifth inning.
