The Taft junior varsity baseball team kicked off the second half of the league season the way they ended the first by winning a game. This time around it was an 11-0 victory over the Wasco Tigers at home Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, Taft improves to 17-5 overall and 7-0 in the South Sequoia League.
Taft’s offense had a string of threes going through most of the game by scoring three runs in the first, second and fourth innings. The Wildcats added two more runs in the sixth to end the rally.
Oscar Nuno and Alex Guzman each led the charge by going 3-for-3 in the game. Guzman also had two runs, two runs batted in along with a double and triple. Jordan Lopez was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a double.
Cain Roberts and Christian Palacios each were 1-for-3 with Roberts scoring two runs while getting one of his hits on a double. Will Moore was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a run batted in. Cameron Anderson was 1-for-1 with a run scored and a double.
Matt Osborn scored three times while Noah Parsons and Anthony Martin each scored once. Colt Niblett had a run batted in during the game.
On the pitching side, Osborn threw six innings, allowing a hit and three walks while striking out 10 batters. Parsons pitched the final inning while striking out three batters.
Taft returned for the rematch Thursday afternoon when they took on the Tigers in Wasco.
