Passenger survives. Both victims were both Bakersfield residents

A Bakersfield man was killed and his passenger injured in a motorcycle crash on Highway 33 in northern Ventura County Saturday.

The crash took place just north of Lockwood Valley Road about 2 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said the motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man whose name was not released, was southbound on the highway on a 2003 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve.

The motorcycle drifted onto the right dirt shoulder. He applied his brakes but the motorcycle continued south and traveled 40 feet down a dirt and rock embankment.

The man and his passenger, identified as Jessica Bishop, 40, of Bakersfield, were both ejected.

The woman survived and was airlifted from the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both were wearing safety equipment, the CHP said.
