The Bakersfield man killed on Highway 33 just south of the Kern-Ventura County line Saturday has been identified as Earl Bishop IV, 40, the Ventura County Star reported.
Bishop and his wife, Jessica Bishop were reportedly taking part in a charity ride when the fatal crash occurred.
Jessica Bishop was airlifted by the scene and taken to a Ventura County hospital for treatment, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m. on Highway 33 near Brubaker Canyon, which is located between Ventucopa and the Ozena Ranger station.
The CHP said Bishop was riding on Highway 33 when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and down a 40-foot embankment.
Highway 33 south from Highway 166 to Ventura is a popular route for road riders to take, but it has proven dangerous at times.
That was underscored Saturday when a second motorcycle crash claimed the life of an Ojai man near Pine Mountain Ridge Road about 6 p.m.
That crash site is about 17 miles south of the crash that killed Bishop, the Star reported.
