With only a couple of league tournaments left in the season, the Taft boys golf team continued a theme on familiar turf Thursday afternoon when they finished second in the South Sequoia League’s sixth seasonal tournament at Buena Vista Golf Course.
Bakersfield Christian had the lowest score of the tournament with a 397. Taft followed with a round of 451 with Shafter coming in third at 472. Cesar Chavez was fourth with a 522.
Harrison Sorensen had the lowest score among the Wildcats with an 87. Nick Pommerville and Casey House each were one stroke back at an 88 while Tanner Leikam had an 89. Eli Kindred followed with a 99 while Taari Morgan rounded out the scoring with a 105.
Currently, Pommerville has an 87.8 average on the season while Leikam has an 89.3 Sorensen has an average of 91.2.
Bakersfield Christian maintains their first place lead in the overall standings with 72 points. Taft is second with 60 while Shafter is third with 42 points.
Taft along with the other schools, play their final regular season South Sequoia League tournament Thursday at Riverlakes Golf Course in Bakersfield. The match begins at noon.
