Sophomore Brooklyn Amador belted a homerun and two doubles to drive in four runs Thursday and help power Taft College to a 10-0 Central Valley Conference softball win over visiting West Hills College.
The game, called after four and a half innings because of the eight-run rule, closed out the season for the Cougars, who finished 10-8 in the conference and 19-21 overall.
Leadoff batter Chelsi Eli-Kido also had three hits and drove in a run.
Kelina Nakai had a single and double and Ashley McKeown doubled.
Pitcher Jessica Neher went two-for-three and scored two runs while Cheyenne Emerson, Venise Elisara, Tuiai Elisara and Stephanie Keith also had base hits. TC had 15 in four innings.
Neher went the distance in the pitcher’s circle. She allowed just two hits, struck out five and walked one.
While the Cougars wrapped up the season the other six league teams still have two games left.
Fresno has clinched the title with its 14-2 record (28-8 overall) and a three-game lead over Sequoias and Reedley, both at 11-5. The Cougars are at 10-8 followed by Merced at 9-7, Porterville 2-14 and hapless West Hills 0-16.
